Hyperhydrosis
Do you sweat excessively?
Hyperhydrosis is a medical condition that is characterized by excessive sweating in excess of what is required to regulate body temperature (Wikipedia…I love Wikipedia!). This can affect the palms of the hands, the feet, the face (forehead) and under the arms. This can be socially debilitating as it can cause social anxiety and embarrassment.
Did you know that botox/dysport can be used to treat this bothersome condition? This is a non-surgical, extremely effective and affordable way to treat this condition. The most commonly treated area is the armpit. It is a simple and effective treatment involving multiple injections into the dermis where the sweat glands are. The botulinum toxin works by blocking the stimulation of the sweat gland thus inactivating the sweat gland; therefore, no more perspiration. You may wonder, does this mean that I will not sweat anywhere else? Nope! This only affects the area treated. Does this mean that I will sweat more in other areas? Nope! It will not increase the perspiration in other areas. Is it unsafe for me not to sweat? Not at all! Your body has many other sweat glands and can easily compensate.
The treatment may take anywhere from 15 minutes to half an hour and may last 6-9 months. It will start taking effect within the first 2 weeks of treatment.
The treatment will require usually around 50 units under each arm thus costing around $800-$1000. The good news is, some private insurance companies will pay for this medical procedure!
So don’t sweat it! Give me a call or email me, and I will provide you with an individualized consultation where I can answer all your questions. I can even write a letter to your insurance company to is if they would pre-approve you for this treatment.
