Dermaplaning is an exfoliation and surface-hair removal treatment. It does not permanently remove facial hair or treat every cause of pigmentation, acne, or scarring.

Your skin is first cleansed and disinfected. A sterile surgical blade is then used at a controlled angle to gently remove surface buildup and fine vellus hair. The treatment affects only the outermost layers of the skin. Afterward, your provider may apply a moisturizer or continue with another suitable treatment, depending on your plan. Most appointments take approximately 15–20 minutes, although the total time may be longer if dermaplaning is combined with another service.

Immediately after treatment, your skin may feel smoother and appear more refreshed. Many clients choose dermaplaning before an event because it can support a more even makeup application. Results are not permanent. Fine facial hair and dead skin naturally return over time, so maintenance treatments may be scheduled approximately every 3–6 weeks based on your skin’s needs. Individual results vary depending on your skin condition, hair growth, skincare routine, and treatment plan.

or Darker? No. Dermaplaning does not change the colour, thickness, or growth rate of facial hair. The hair grows back according to its natural pattern. Dermaplaning is also not the same as ordinary shaving. It uses a sterile blade to remove dead skin cells as well as fine facial hair from the surface.

Treatments? Dermaplaning may be combined with selected treatments when clinically appropriate, including:

• Medical-grade facials.
• Chemical peels.
• Microneedling.
• IPL photofacials.
• Hydradermabrasion or Hydrafacial-style treatments.

Combining treatments is not appropriate for every client or every skin condition. Your provider will recommend the safest sequence and timing for your skin.

Dermaplaning may be suitable for some clients with sensitive skin, but suitability depends on the skin barrier, active conditions, medications, and current irritation. The treatment does not intentionally break delicate surface capillaries, but it may not be appropriate over active acne, open lesions, infection, significant irritation, or an active skin flare. A skin assessment is recommended before treatment.

Dermaplaning is non-invasive and generally has no required downtime. You may experience temporary sensitivity, mild redness, or irritation depending on your skin. After treatment:

• Follow the skincare instructions provided by your provider.
• Protect your skin from direct sun exposure.
• Apply sunscreen as recommended.
• Avoid harsh exfoliants or active products until your provider says they can be resumed.
• Avoid picking or irritating the treated skin.
